Waste handling

Most Mölnlycke products are to be disposed of as clinical waste. Always follow the instructions in the instruction for use and user manual, as well as local regulations and state laws.

Electronic devices and batteries

In many countries, specific regulations are in place for handling of electronic devices and batteries when becoming waste.

In EU member states, Norway and Switzerland, waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and batteries must be separated from the clinical waste in accordance with the WEEE Directive 2012/19/EU and the Battery Directive 2006/66/EC. These requirements appliy for electronic devices and batteries marked with the waste bin logo.

Mölnlycke provides arrangements for the collection, treatment, recycling and recovery of WEEE and batteries when such products are purchased from us. These requirements apply to the following products sold by Mölnlycke:

  • Avance® Solo (only pump and batteries, not canister or dressings)
  • Avance® Solo Adapt (only pump and batteries, not canister or dressings)
  • Pulsed Lavage (only AC power adapter and batteries, not the handpieces)

Notwithstanding the above, the WEEE and batteries from Mölnlycke devices can be handled in accordance with internal waste procedures at hospitals and healthcare facilities, if these waste fractions are separated from other waste.

If you wish assistance in order to handle the WEEE and batteries correctly, Mölnlycke has established a recycling contract with the European Advanced Recycling Network (EARN). Mölnlycke will cover any costs of treatment, recycling and recovery of the equipment on arrival at the different EARN facilities, however, it is the your responsibility to arrange and pay for costs of collection and transportation to the EARN facility.
