  1. The Shielded Bladed Trocar is a sterile single patient use instrument consisting of an obturator and a transparent cannula. The obturator has a sharp bladed tip and a spring-loaded safety shield mechanism designed to expose the blade during insertion. The bladed tip will be covered once the abdominal or thoracic cavity has been entered in order to protect internal structures from puncture or injury. The trocar cannula assembly has two sealing systems, to minimise gas leakage during insertion and withdrawal of instruments through the trocar, and a luer stopcock port that provides attachment for gas insufflation and desufflation.
